But the free basic mode pretty much gives me all I need - front, middle, back of the green as well as the distance to bunkers and how far to clear them. So I was concerned about being able to read the uPro screen. I need glasses to read a newspaper, but don't need them when playing golf. I make sure the uPro is fully charged before going out and never have had a battery problem. No problem and it doesn't matter if it is cloudy out or sunny. I bought the 150 credits and download the Pro Mode if I plan on playing that course again. I have the brightness at 50%. I would recommend the product to a friend.
At the place it was purchased, they tell me they've had several that are having the same problem, and it will be "weeks" before I get a replacement. I got one for Fathers' Day and it is about as useful as a brick. If that exceeds their "30 day" satifaction guarantee, then what. First, it came with two headphones and no USB cable. The serial number won't register on the website, the manufacturer's support line gave me a runaround about how I need to exchange it where it was purchased because the serial number "won't go into their database". I'm definitely not at all satisfied - a lot of money for a garbage product, and poor customer service. I'd give it zero stars, but Amazon forces you to give at least 1.
The ability to select any point on the golf course and measure your distance to it is extremely helpful in club selections and staying out of trouble. I had been waiting for the right technology to be introduced before I purchased my Golf-GPS device. Speed of play improves significantly as well. The U-Pro is definitely it. I can't say enough about what a great device it is and how it benefits my game. Finally, the ability to see the entire golf hole on courses you havent played before makes a big difference in course management. If you are looking to purchase a GPS device, buy this one.
I give this system full marks. The two best things about the system are the flyovers which are extremely helpful if you are unfamilar with a course, and the measurement system. It is invaluable to be able to pick any point on the hole and measure to that point.
The controls are very easy to operate. The Anypoint is fantastic for getting yourself back in play with offline shots or for lying up. What I have learned in owning the product for a few weeks is that the performance is solid, and as described. The online system for downloading courses is slick, and while I was initially concerned because my home course mapping dates kept sliding back, the technical support team not only knocked out both of my clubs courses, but many in my area within nearly a week.
I use the device in Pro mode, but do choose to skip the flyover. I struggled a bit with this purchase because there was so much conflict in some of the Amazon reviews. I have also experienced no issues with the battery life.Given the [.]. This is particularly important given you will want to keep a device this small in your pocket, and it will invariably come in contact with tees and divot repair tools. The yardages have been spot on in my experience.
in that is available now (Summer '09 that I missed by two days - bummer), I believe you can't choose a better device given my research of competitors before purchasing. I don't have mine protected yet, and have been very careful to date, but plan to get the BoxWave Crystal protector vs. In fact, with the exception of one issue, I have seen no evidence of the historical problems in the reviews. My only issue to date has been that sometimes the "sync" process stalls out when downloading a course, and in my experience, you have to start the download over. The next hole feature also works as promised.
The yardages adjust within a second or two, so you can quickly plan your attack. Since this is simple software/firmware fix, I suspect this will be addressed quickly and update available to everyone as your routinely connect to the uPro server to grab additional courses you plan to play.Customer support has been very good despite their success and resulting call volume, and while I have had one delayed response, I have also experience a customer support representative that followed up with me three times to ensure my home course got mapped and that I had no problems with the download.Other comment: uPro does offer a skin to protect the unit, but personally the larger concern must be protecting the screen from getting scratched. an Anti-Glare version to ensure that I can maintain the visual contrast of the satellite photography.
